Exhaust Manifold – The exhaust manifold connects directly to the vehicle’s engine and consists of one or more pipes that collect exhaust gas from the engine’s cylinders and deliver it to the exhaust pipe.
Catalytic Converter – The exhaust fumes that exit through the exhaust manifold arrive at the catalytic converter, which creates a chemical reaction to produce less harmful gases.
Muffler – This is the part that most people are familiar with as it is typically visible from behind the vehicle. The muffler’s primary purpose is to reduce the noise of the exhaust system; if a hole develops in it, the car will become noticeably louder.
As a system, the exhaust manifold, catalytic converter, and the muffler not only make your vehicle quieter, it also reduces the level of harmful pollutants released into the cabin of your vehicle and into the atmosphere.
